Farnham golfer Lottie Woad is in the running to win a national award.

Woad, who is the top-ranked female golfer in the amateur game and enjoyed a stellar 2024, is a finalist in the Performance of the Year category of the 2025 England Golf Awards.

Last April, Woad produced three birdies in her final four holes to become the first European golfer to win the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Woad then finished in a tie for 23rd place in the Chevron Championship in her first Ladies’ Professional Golf Association (LPGA) major championship appearance.

Woad finished in a tie for tenth place at the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews – winning the Smyth Salver for being the leading amateur.

She also helped Great Britain & Ireland win the Curtis Cup against the United States.

“It was a very exciting year from start to finish,” said Woad.

“I got to play some really big events at some really cool venues like Augusta and St Andrews where I played well and got all those experiences.

“My dad introduced me to the game and he's been very supportive ever since by driving me around the country and stuff like that.

“I think he is still as supportive now as he was when I first started.

“There are pictures of me when I was like three or four playing, kind of just hitting it around, but I had my first golf lesson when I was seven with the coach I'm still with today.

“I'm looking forward to the majors this year and hopefully one day I'll be playing professionally on the LPGA and winning some majors.

“It's definitely on my mind, and when I think I'm ready, I'll take the leap.

“It would just be a cumulation of all the years of hard work and be a dream to do it.”
