COLIN Fryer hit a stunning gross 82 to win the Worldham Golf Club Seniors’ Championship, with nearest rival Des Langford four shots back.
The Worldham course was again in excellent condition as over 70 players, ladies and men, took part on another hot day, the weather taking its toll on some of the ‘older’ older members.
The Handicap Trophy went to Stuart Gregson (hcp 21) with a net 65, beating John Grace to the title by five clear shots.
Winner of the Ladies’ Championship was Lyn Kenny with a gross 95, followed by Barbara Hogg on 99. Handicap winner was Mags Raggett with a net 73, runner-up Jill Stubbs scoring a net 77.
Two age-related prizes went to Steve Smiley and Dave Burns.
The trophies were presented by Seniors’ captain Ian Hogg.
The following week, Worldham Seniors played their Pairs Challenge, the format being four-ball better-ball stableford. The overall winners were John Yeomans and Alan Littlewood with 49 points, on countback from Sean Kennedy and Jim Ginders. Third-placed Peter Barwick and Mike Ilsley were also on 49 points.
Mixed winners were Jill Stubbs and Dave Burns, with 44 points, on countback from Claire Wright and Steve Hunt, with Di Baycroft and Lyn Kenny just one point back in third place.
