The practise green at Petersfield Golf Club became the setting for a light-hearted moment when club members met a P.Utting putting.
Penelope Utting, who started playing golf just two years ago through the Operation 36 golf scheme at the club, said: “Operation 36 was a great way to learn, especially because there are group lessons, so you immediately meet other beginners, who you can go out and practise with.”
Utting admitted she is amused at the interest in her name, saying that there are also two Greens and one Wood in the club but no Drivers.
Former Royal Navy Officer Utting added: “Golf is certainly a challenging sport, but the occasional good hole inspires you to keep coming back for more.”
As for her putting game? Penelope calls it “a bit of a curate’s egg – good in parts”.
