The first weekend of January brought a welcome respite from the recent long periods of rain.

Coupled with a moderate breeze, it was ideal weather for hang gliding and paragliding.

Pilots from the Petersfield-based Sky Surfing Club took advantage of the northerly winds at various locations.

Neville Almond, Justin Needham, Grant Crossingham and Martin Colclough journeyed to the steep slopes of the White Horse, near Westbury, Wiltshire.

Russell Winters, Justin Simmonds, Ranald Macaulay and Zach Hart joined other sky surfers at Harting Down.

Crossingham, Needham, Maciej Wolaniecki and Jose Pinto attempted the South Downs run from Harting Down.

Needham and Crossingham flew to Duncton and back, while Pinto made a return trip to Cocking.
