ANYONE thrilled by the rugby sevens in Rio is being invited by Farnham RFC to give the sport a go.
The club has a mixed social touch rugby group which meets each Wednesday at 7.30pm. The group is open to anyone over the age of 16, male and female.
The players train and play to O2 Touch rules which are different to normal touch rugby. It is very much social rugby and no previous experience is necessary.
Farnham plan to enter competitions for those who want to take it a little more seriously, but essentially it’s about the enjoyment of playing a great game with friends.
It’s a good way to keep fit outdoors rather than in the gym. Farnham also hope to offer monthly ladies-only touch sessions.
There are currently 20 members and the club expects numbers to grow significantly during the new season.

Heath End School is also one of 321 centres nationwide making O2 Touch rugby accessible to all.
England Rugby, in association with Sport England, introduced the programme in 2013, hoping to attact both non-players and retired players, and the results have been spectacular. The target of introducing 15,000 registered players to the game by the summer of 2017 has already been surpassed.
The scheme has also grown a volunteer base of over 1,000 O2 Touch ambassadors and operators to help run and deliver the programme.
