FARNHAM Knights 36, London Olympians 0. The Knights shut out the Olympians at Monkton Lane to record their first win of the season in emphatic style.
It’s been a tough start for Farnham after their return to the British American Football Premier Division and this result should do their confidence a power of good.
Olympians had the first possession, but were forced to punt as the home defense set the tone for the day. The single game quarterback sack record would be equalled (4 each) by both Lloyd Scott and Max Schmidt and the Knights defense went on to record no fewer than 12 sacks.
The Knights offense took over and embarked on an eight-play drive which culminated in Aaron Sekwalor’s 27yd scoring run. Jacob Nunnerley ran in the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.
Farnham soon had their third possession of the game. Two runs from Sekwalor drew in the Olympian defense and quarterback Oli De Ruyter hit speedy wide receiver Steve Godfrey for a 46-yard catch and run touchdown.
Sekwalor extended the lead to 20-0 and, just before half-time, got his third touchdown from four yards out. Jacob Nunnerley added the two-point conversion and Knights led 28-0.
The Farnham defense was again uncompromising as Courtney Goodall made a crunching tackle on the Olympian runner, shaking the ball loose for Josh Oakley to recover.
Junior team graduate Harry Carter calmly slotted a 20yd field goal between the posts for a 31-0 lead. Ben Monk broke through the line to tackle the Olympian kicker in his own endzone for a two-point safety and a 33-0 lead.
Finally, replacement quarterback Jacob Nunnerley completed two of his first three passes to set up a 25yd field goal for Harry Carter – the last score of the day.
