History was made on the green baize last Thursday (October 3) as a new member of the Farnham & District Billiards & Snooker League (FDBSL) had the perfect opener.

Ben Russell, Charlie Standing, Jack Larby and Scott Barham were the history boys as Frensham A sounded a warning to the rest of Division Three with an impressive 4-0 whitewash of Traco C in their first home fixture.

It was definitely a night of firsts in the FDBSL as fellow debutants Bordon C got off to a winning start with a 3-1 away win at Rowledge C.

Michael Dennison secured the three points with a 58-12 final frame victory with Bordon A, Comrades B, Lindford D, Traco E, Alton Cons F and Frensham D all sharing the spoils in the remaining fixtures.

There was a similar story in Division Two as freshly promoted Alton Cons A and Bordon B won 3-1 at Sovereign D and Traco F in their respective opening fixtures.

Richard Sanders made an excellent 27 clearance for Shottermill B at Liss RBL C before Dean Bicknell secured a draw with a 24 break and victory in the final frame.

Martin Wells – who had a perfect record in Division Two last year – went down 51-40 to Andy Sibbick in a close encounter between Farnham Cons and Rowledge B with Mike Hitchen making a 23 break for the hosts in securing a draw. The remaining games were draws.
