The new English volleyball season is fast approaching, and a core group of teenagers and adults are beginning to form in Haslemere at The Edge Leisure Centre on Tuesday evenings.
The group will draw up a club charter and submit it for membership in the national federation when attendance settles at a steady 25 or 30 athletes of all ages. Sessions are held from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday evenings.
Federation membership will allow the club to submit teams under the town’s name in categories of the national Youth Grand Prix and Surrey Youth League, which remain open to registration.
Some county and national categories of completion closed earlier in the summer, but Haslemere athletes will still be able to join teams already entered in competition by the organisation sponsoring the club, Farnham-based Volleyball Development Camps (VBDC), to gain experience and prepare Haslemere’s new volleyball activity for a full club roster.

When the new VBDC Haslemere Volleyball Club are officially accepted into the league it will mark the first time a volleyball club with the Haslemere name has participated in organised competition.
VBDC have been training volleyball athletes from around the world for 20 years, and offer training for players of all abilities from under-12s to elite athletes.
