A JAILED “serial thief” will serve an additional year in prison for his part in a ram raid on Elstead Spar on December 14, 2014.

Jimmy Loveridge, previously of Chertsey Road, Chobham, had already pleaded guilty and is currently serving 40 months imprisonment at Lewes Prison in connection with a ram raid a day earlier at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge, on December 15, 2014.

The 24 year old was part of a masked gang who used a 4x4 to drive through the glass window and doors of Mercedes-Benz World and steal a cash machine containing £51,650. Surrey Police gave chase and Loveridge was discovered and arrested in a nearby garden shed.

He appeared at Guildford Crown Court last Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to further allegations of conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy concerning a ram raid at Elstead Spar in Elstead, when a large quantity of cash was stolen and damage caused totalling an estimated £18,780.

The ATM machine had to be replaced and part of the front of the shop on Elstead Green was severely damaged.

He was sentenced to serve, in total, 52 months to run concurrently with his original sentence, meaning he will serve 12 additional months.

Loveridge also pleaded guilty to possession of a mobile phone while detained and was sentenced to serve two weeks in prison in addition to his original 40-month conviction.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Shaun Anderson said: “Loveridge is a serial thief and shows little compassion to public property, which has resulted in him being involved in a spree of ATM thefts.

“I am pleased that Loveridge has received this additional sentence and I hope this reassures the public that criminals like him will be identified and brought to justice.”
