A Pole who has settled in Alton has proved she’s a dab hand at mass media by launching a book, game and series of YouTube videos to promote her green views to children.
Jolanta Olchowicz, who moved to Britain in 2003, has used her life experiences as inspiration for her children’s book The Little Girl Who Wanted to Stay at Home.
The author, who has written the book in English despite it being her second language, is a lifelong writer but only turned her hand to children’s literature half a decade ago.
“Because I'm not English and I was writing the book in English with a Polish mind, I was bit afraid of not sounding not ‘proper English’,” joked the author upon releasing her second book through Pegasus Publishers.
She added: “It’s a book with a message for children to appreciate our natural world a bit more and be part of it, feel it, live it.
“And not letting too much screen time/technology take that away from us or forget it or take it for granted. Our natural world offers us so much and it is great for our body, mind and soul.”
Jolanta also created a game called “Ask Me or Task Me” with both children and adult versions.
The interactive game poses interesting and thought-provoking questions and fun tasks to perform and is available to download from app stores.
Jolanta’s book, The Little Girl Who Wanted to Stay at Home, has a RRP of £7.99
