A 13-year-old boy was one of several teens arrested following a melee outside an Alton supermarket yesterday evening.

There were upsetting scenes near Waitrose last night with police making numerous arrests following a melee near the Station Road store.

Several police vehicles were deployed amid reports of an ‘altercation’ around 7.30pm last night (Friday, April 11).

Hampshire Police confirmed this morning that a 13-year-old was the youngest of five arrested.

He was arrested on suspicion of array along with two 15-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy, and a 23-year-old man.

All the people arrested come from Alton and remain in police custody at the time of writing.
