Wootey Infant School headteacher Ella Palmer has retired after 21 years in the role.
She was given a heartfelt farewell by children, parents, colleagues, and governors at the Alton school on Friday, April 4.
Tracey Thomas, who has served as the school’s deputy headteacher for the past 23 years, will succeed Mrs Palmer.
Mrs Palmer reflected on her tenure, saying: “Our school has always placed a strong emphasis on the values of happiness, respect and creativity—values that have shaped everything we do.
“Seeing these values come to life in our school every day has been one of the greatest joys of my career.
“I have every confidence that under Mrs Thomas’ excellent leadership and the unwavering support of a highly skilled staff and governor team, the school will continue to flourish in the years to come, keeping our core values at its heart.”
Mrs Thomas will officially begin her new role as headteacher on Monday, April 21.
She expressed her gratitude, adding “It has been an honour serving as Mrs Palmer’s deputy for more than 20 years.
“Our values and vision have always been tightly aligned, and I now look forward to working with the amazing Wootey team to continue making Wootey Infant School the very best it can be.”
