An East Hampshire care worker has been called “a credit to the sector” after receiving a prestigious award for his hard work, compassion and dedication.

Innocent Sifiyali came ahead of hundreds of nominees to claim the Care Expert of the Year Award for the South West region at the Bluebird Card UK Awards.

The award is bestowed on a “truly outstanding” all-rounder who goes above and beyond for customers and teammates.

And Innocent fitted the bill as the Bluebird Care Alton, Petersfield and Havant nominee was recognised for making an incredible impact on his community.

Judges were impressed with his passion for supporting people with complex care needs and establishing smooth and appreciated routines.

He also has an “amazing ability to build a trusting rapport” and has developed great leadership skills.

Innocent is part of as Bluebird Care team that supports people across East Hampshire – including some with specialist dementia and live-in care – to stay safe and well in the comfort of their own homes.

He will now vie for the national title with three other regional winners after celebrating his achievement with teammates at a celebratory lunch in Bath.

“Innocent really impressed us with his standout dedication, compassion and drive for continuous learning and development – he is a credit to the care sector and to Bluebird Care,” said the firm’s CEO, Jonathan Gardner.

“I feel fortunate to have a job that brings me such joy and great opportunities,” said Mr Sifiyali, adding: “I’m grateful for the recognition.”
