On a weekend when hundreds said ‘we will remember them’ off South Street, the mayor of Farnham didn’t forget residents who couldn’t join the town’s Remembrance Sunday service.

Cllr Brodie Mauluka visited Wey Valley House in the run up to Remembrance Sunday to share memories and stories with residents over afternoon tea.

Several residents and staff members from the home run by the Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society joined hundreds around the memorial and Gostrey Meadow on November 10 for the town’s annual Remembrance Parade and Service.

But Cllr Mauluka made sure the less abled didn’t miss out and took time way from his busy schedule to chat and reflect with residents on what the key occasion means to people individually.

“The afternoon was a wonderful opportunity for our older residents with less mobility to be integrally involved in our local community as Farnham remembers,” said the home’s registered manager, Michelle Blower.
