Call the midwife as a pair of long-serving workers at hospital maternity unit have received national recognition.

The duo were among four Royal Surrey workers who received awards from the Chief Midwifery Officer for England for their “outstanding contributions”.

The Silver Chief Midwifery Officer awards and Maternity Support Worker awards presented by Kate Brintworth are awarded to “dedicate and talented” workers who reach the “highest standards of care”.

Tina Harding and Lisa Holmes are natural born winners as the pair have racked up 42 years collectively in the Guildford hospital.

Both were “shocked and touched” to receive awards with the former thanking her “lovely colleagues” and teammates for their support.

Midwives Kate Conway and Lauren Read were equally shocked as the pair had no idea about the presentation.

The latter expressed her love for the job and colleagues with Kate adding: “This is as much my family as my own family is.”
