A £220,000 upgrade programme for a town centre play park has taken a step forward after a contractor was selected to carry out the work.
Farnham Town Council announced this week that Eibe Play would complete the work on Gostrey Meadow play park.
The council consulted residents on their preferences for the new play park, inviting feedback on three proposed designs. Each option included key features such as disability access, seating areas, and sensory play elements, alongside traditional equipment like swings and climbing frames.
One of the main points of discussion was the need for shade, with suggestions including canvas sail shades and additional tree cover to protect children during hot summer months.
A splash pad was also considered, however, concerns over high maintenance costs have made this option unlikely.
A spokesperson for the town council said: “We want to create a playground that is accessible, more inclusive and where children aged 11 and under can play safely.”
