A civic leader has urged residents to make 2025 the year of community care, emphasising the importance of looking out for one another and our surroundings.

Cllr Chris Jackman made the call after another successful graffiti-cleaning session in the north Farnham area, where he serves as the councillor for Badshot Lea and Moor Park.

A long-time advocate for keeping local spaces tidy, Cllr Jackman has made graffiti removal one of his key priorities.

“If you see some graffiti, let me know and I can come along and either help clean it off, or give you the right wipes to do so, or point you in the direction of buying them if you want to,” he said.

“People have said they want to get involved with helping make our community better and we really need that in these days when there is so much division. Let’s take care of each other and where we live.”

Graffiti is a constant issue in Farnham, with Cllr Jackman tracking and removing recent vandalism from near the Weybourne football pitches to areas close to St Michael’s Church in Aldershot.

He said: “I don’t know why people do it. I understand that perhaps they want to express themselves, they may be frustrated or feel that they have nowhere else to do this, but can they not do so on public property like bus shelters and noticeboards?

“If people want a graffiti board, let’s talk about it. I’m open to suggestions so please get in touch with me. In the meantime, it takes about 30 minutes to clean off each lot and half a pack of chemical wipes.

“So if people want to get involved cleaning, or just see some in the area, let me know. We can work together to help our community.”
