ACTRESS and Farnham town councillor Kika Mirylees has said she is “lucky to be alive” after a high-speed car accident in Poland last week.

The former Bad Girls’ star and councillor for Shortheath and Boundstone was on her way to the airport on Monday, July 24. when a learner driver pulled out in front of her taxi.

The Mercedes containing Kika as well as her god-daughter and a friend was travelling at 70mph and had no time to react, ricocheting across the road, spiralling into a ditch and rolling into a field.

“I can’t believe we’re still alive,” Kika told The Herald. “The girl in the front seat was saved by the air bag and the taxi driver escaped with a minimal scratch to his head. But we were flung around in the back and the pain was instant.

“My god-daughter’s friend cracked two vertebrae in her back and began screaming - but I couldn’t scream because the pain was so severe.

“The taxi driver thought the car might go up in flames any moment, so dragged us out into the field, but if anything that probably made our injuries even worse.

“I couldn’t breathe because of the seatbelt digging into my chest and really thought that might be it. But I later found out I had just badly twisted my neck and my thighs are completely black with bruises.

“The crash was so bad we made the local news in Poland, and I keep asking myself how the hell could we survive that? The police said if we hadn’t been travelling in a Mercedes we would have been dead.”

Kika and her travel companions spent the next few days in hospital, before she mustered the strength to fly back to the UK last Friday.

It comes just 18 months after Kika was involved in another serious crash in the UK, when she was hit head-on by a car being pursued by the police on her way home from filming an episode of Holby City.

She continued: “It’s affected me psychologically as much as physically, and I can’t face being in a car with anyone else driving at the moment.

“I was only able to come home after taking a coach to the airport and then being picked up by a friend’s £250,000 bulletproof limo!”
