A man is in emergency care after crashing his car into a traffic light near the Albion Tavern in Farnham, at around 9.50am this morning (Friday). Witnesses reported that the man, who has not been named, may have suffered a cardiac arrest before losing control of the car, though this is unconfirmed.

Passers-by quickly pulled him from the car and brought him to the nearby Farnham Fire Station, where he received immediate treatment. Surrey Police later confirmed he was taken to hospital but had no serious injuries.

Police and fire crews blocked the junction at Hale Road, East Street and Guildford Road where the incident occurred while the car was removed. Traffic was diverted back down the Guildford Road towards the Shepherd and Flock roundabout and up St James’ Avenue, causing delays as refuse lorries and buses were forced to navigate narrow side roads.
