Shoplifters have turned a petrol station into the most crime-ridden area of Farnham.

Crime nearly doubled in the Weybourne, Badshot Lea and Moor Park patch in September with 44 incidents being recorded compared to 24 in August.

Half of the crimes reported involved violence, sexual offences or anti-social behaviour with three burglaries also being investigated around the patch.

The BP garage on Farnham bypass has the dubious honour of being the town’s monthly hotspot with eight shoplifting offences being reported over the month.

Elsewhere, there’s been a further drop in crime in the Farnham Town Centre patch with the number of incidents dropping from 62 to 53.

Again, most involved violence, sexual offences or anti-social behaviour with The Borough and Farnham Mill Lane being the most “crime ridden” areas with six incidents apiece.

And the number of crimes reported over the month in Wrecclesham, Rowledge and The Bourne also fell from 43 to 29.
