Crime rose to its highest level in three months in central Farnham in October with reports leaping by more than 51 per cent following a two-month drop.

It’s been a relatively quiet summer around the patch as 62 and 54 crimes were reported in August and September, respectively, with the yearly average being around 70.

But the figure leapt to 80 in October while the number of reported cases involving violence or sexual offences (VSO) doubled from 14 to 28 over the period according to the latest www.police.uk figures.

The crimes included a robbery on The Borough, two burglaries around the Red Lion Lane area and three offences involving drugs on Firgrove Court.

The Borough and South Street were the most “crime-ridden” areas with six crimes apiece while the number of public order offences also rose from 7 to 11.

There was better news in the Weybourne, Badshot Lea and Moor Park patch as the number of crimes reported has fallen from 44 to 35.

Crimes involving VSOs were the most commonly reported (a steady 13) but offences involving anti-social behaviour, burglary, shoplifting or vehicle crime all fell.

But there was a rise in crimes involving criminal damage – up from one to five – while Heath End and the Farnborough Road shops area was the busiest on the patch.

After falling from 43 to 29 in September, the number of crimes reported in the Wrecclesham, Rowledge and The Bourne patch is back up to 45.

A big increase in VSOs – up from 13 to 21 – played a part while there was a surge in public order offences, as nine were reported in October compared to three in September.

There was also a slight rise in anti-social behaviour while St John’s Road tops the table with four crimes being reported over the month.
