THE Guildford College Group was thrilled with the significant increase in high grades for its A-level students at Farnham Sixth Form College, where the A* to C pass rate was 81.8 per cent, four full percentage points above the national average.
At Farnham College, university awaits Catherine Bookham and Liam Trussler, who both secured their places with high results.
Catherine, achieved A*ABB in 3D architecture, geography, maths and physics and will be moving on to study architecture and environmental engineering at the University of the West of England in Bristol.
Speaking about her achievement, Catherine said: “Architecture it can be tricky at times, but it’s something I really enjoy doing. It is definitely hard work.
“I have always liked design and the combination of arts, maths and sciences. I’m so pleased with my results and that I got the grades I needed to get in to university. I really enjoyed my time at Farnham and I’d definitely recommend it to others.”
Liam, will be heading to St Mary’s University in Twickenham to study strength and conditioning after achieving AAB in business, psychology and physical education with the hope of becoming a sports coach.
Also celebrating on the day were Amy Rimmer and Edward Hartz, who following their results have both decided to take a gap year before moving on to university.
Amy, achieved AAA in maths, biology and chemistry and will be heading to York University next year to study natural sciences, before embarking on a career in scientific research.
Edward, achieved A*AAB in maths, further maths, chemistry and physics will be taking a year out, where he intends to spend some time in Germany learning the language, before heading to university in 2018 to study maths.
The head of Farnham Sixth Form College, Dr Jason Jones, said: “I’m just absolutely thrilled. I am so pleased for all of our students – their hard work and determination have paid off and they’ve achieved some fantastic results. They really deserve to celebrate.

“At 81.8 per cent, the college’s A* to C pass rate is once again above the national average and this achievement represents our commitment to stretch and challenge our students and ensure that their exam results reflect the absolute best of their ability.
