Members of a crafty club have become screenstars after giving the Farnham Maltings atrium a festive makeover.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the venue thanks to Enterprise19 as they’ve decorated the entrance to tie-in with a forthcoming production.

The brilliant Farnham-based organisation empowers young adults with learning disabilities by giving them unique and meaningful work opportunities.

So when planning began for the upcoming production of Christmas in Exeter Street, they asked Enterprise19 if they would like to design some themed artwork for the event.

Five groups of six people worked with tutor Vicky Mollart, using screen printing techniques to produce seven hand-printed drapes influenced by the show and its artwork.

The drapes, which came together over several weeks of hard work, will be seen by thousands of visitors over the coming weeks as they’ve been draped around the atrium.

“We thought it would be really nice to do a collaboration as we always decorate the front entrance,” said Caroline Pearce, Farnham Maltings craft coordinator.

“The front of the building looks a little like a house so we wanted to create banners based on the characters and scenes from the show.”

“I really enjoyed it,” said Emma, who helped with the sewing while another contributor said his favourite part was colouring and bringing the characters to life.

Performances of Christmas in Exeter Street will take place daily at the venue from December 13 to Christmas Eve except on the 17th and 18th.
