A pair of councillors have called a public meeting to get local views on a major housebuilding scheme on the edge of Farnham.
David Beaman and Graham White want to hear what residents think about the Cala Homes proposals for Coxbridge ahead of a D-Day meeting for the scheme next week.
The Farnham Residents Group (FRG) councillors for Farnham North West will make presentations when the reserved matters planning application comes before the Waverley Borough Planning Committee next Tuesday (October 8).
But they want to hear what residents think beforehand, so they’ve arranged for a public meeting to take place at 6.30pm the evening before (Monday) in the Farnham Town Council chamber.
Development on the Coxbridge site – the largest allocated site for housing in Farnham’s Neighbourhood Plan for residential development – seems inevitable as outline planning permission has already been granted for 320 homes.
The site close to the Coxbridge roundabout has been supported by Farnham Town Council as a sustainable location for much-needed new homes in the area.
Outline permission was granted in May 2021 but legal wrangles over the Section 106 agreement delayed its progress.
More detailed plans for the site were presented during a public exhibition in December.
These included some changes from the outline proposals which have already received planning permission, and these have raised some concerns according to the councillors.
Although ward councillors Beaman and White cannot participate in the WBC debate or vote, the pair are both allowed to make presentations to the planning committee.
