Residents in Farnham have spoken out about their frustration after they were left for more than a week without broadband.

The broadband went down at the end of March after a car collided with an exchange on Weydon Lane.

One resident said up to 500 homes and businesses were impacted by the outage.

“It has been really frustrating. Businesses are being affected and hundreds of families are without connectivity,” he said.

A spokesperson for broadband provider Open Reach said workers had been trying to fix the issue.

He said: “We’re sorry for the time it’s taking to get everyone in Weydon Lane reconnected.”

He said the car’s collision with the cabinet has left it “completely out of action” which made “repair work extremely challenging”.

“The repairs are complex and time-consuming, replacing the cabinet frame, electronics, and connecting fibre and copper cables all need different specialist teams,” he said.

“Cabinets are mains powered, so we have to wait for the electricity supplier to switch off and isolate the damaged cabinet, so our engineers can work safely.

“Our engineers have now replaced the broadband cabinet shell and are currently working to reconnect it.”
