A TEAM from The Abbey School in Farnham has won the annual Children with Special Needs Foundation football tournament for the first time.
This year’s competition took place on the school’s playing field in Menin Way and altogether five schools took part - Dove House, The Park, Samuel Cody, St Philip’s, and, of course, The Abbey.
Competition was fierce, but friendly, with students, staff and parents cheering the teams on. Abbey B eventually lifted the trophy after beating Dove House 2-0 in the final after penalties.
Gordon and Ann Parris, founders of the Children with Special Needs Foundation, and Thandi Wooldridge who commissioned and donated a replica FA Cup in memory of her late husband, were on hand to make the presentations.
A spokesman for The Abbey School said: “As proud hosts of the Children with Special Needs Foundation tournament The Abbey were delighted that one of their teams, Abbey B, won the final this year.”
