Farnham has a lot to look forward to in the new year and there are plenty of events and activities to choose from.
After 40 years without a dedicated cinema in the town, REEL will open the doors of its long-anticipated six-screen multiplex at Brightwells Yard on Friday, February 2.
The venue will offer cinema-goers state-of-the art laser picture projection and digital audio in all six screens, a licensed bar and the Reel Lounge, a premium viewing experience with plush sofas and armchairs.
Culture vultures also have a new season of exhibitions at New Ashgate Gallery to look forward to in January.
Explore Farnham’s cultural tapestry through Farnham Legends, a collaborative exhibition by Breaking Ground (January 13 to March 9), while Catherine Dunstan’s Transmissions (January 27 to February 10) invites a moment of escapism with her kaleidoscopic glass artworks, showcasing her unique colour blooming technique developed during her MA study at UCA Farnham.
Burns Night falls on Thursday, January 25 and to celebrate and remember the life and poetry of Robert Burns, Farnham Castle is hosting a traditional Burns Night supper. The night will feature a two-course dinner, piper and Address to a Haggis, a wee dram of whisky and a traditional ceilidh band until midnight. In March, the Farnham Literary Festival will return from Friday, March 1 to Sunday, March 10. More details to come, at https://farnhamliteraryfestival.co.uk/ but there is talk of a very big name coming to open this year's festival...
Later in the month there will be the plant-based Artisan Market in West Street on Sunday, March 17 from 10.30pm to 4pm.
And Farnham Beerex returns from April 18 to 20, featuring more than 60 real ales, keg beers, and a variety of ciders. New additions include online pre-orders, a quiet Friday afternoon session, and a chance to vote for Beer and Cider of the Festival.
