Anyone who has lost a family member or friend is invited to an All Souls’ service in north Farnham this weekend.
All Souls’ services, sometimes known as ‘Light a Candle for a Loved One’, are opportunities to remember those who have died and to give thanks for their lives.
There will be a service at St John's in Hale from 4pm this Saturday (November 2) with another beginning at 11am at St Mary’s in Upper Hale on Sunday morning.
A third and final service will begin at 5.30pm on the same afternoon at St George’s in Badshot Lea.
“All Souls’ services are simple events with music, reflections and readings, to which all are invited, and during which all who wish to may light a candle and remember people who have been dear to them,” said a spokesperson for the three churches involved.
“A great number of those who attend have been recently bereaved and there is a comfort in being with others who are bereaved.”
“All are welcome though, however long ago their family member or friend died,” added the spokesperson.
Anyone who would like someone remembered at one of these services is asked to bring their name on a piece of paper to the service.
There will be an opportunity to come forward, read the names either silently or aloud and then put the names in a basket and light a candle in their memory.
