An exciting new chapter has begun at an East Hampshire school as its new headteacher is “the perfect fit” according to thrilled governors.

Vicky Hallett has begun an exciting journey as the former deputy and acting head of The Butts Primary has taken over Bentley Primary School.

She has travelled up the A31 to cultivate a school environment “where every child can thrive academically, socially and emotionally”.

She was drawn to the single-entry school by its “myriad strengths” and “strong reputation” and recognises the pivotal role it plays within the village community.

Mrs Hallett believes “education extends beyond the classroom” so the school’s broad range of extra-curricular activities was another big draw.

The school, which has a few 2024/25 and Year R places available, offers Forest Explorers and French sessions to all pupils and recently won a prestigious Green Flag Award in recognition of its outstanding environmental and sustainability work.

She said: “I am excited to embark on this journey with Bentley CE Primary School.

“I am keenly aware of the outstanding work that has been done here over many years, and I am committed to building upon these foundations to ensure every child receives an exceptional primary education.”

Mrs Hallett wants her pupils to receive a “well-rounded education” through her “whole child” vision with a strong emphasis on extracurricular opportunities.

She recognises the importance of the latter in enriching leaning experiences while the “promotion of a growth mindset” is also central to her philosophy.

She wants pupils to embrace challenges and learn from their mistakes, and aims to instil a belief in pupils that perseverance and resilience are essential for success.

Mrs Hallett added: “I want to empower our students to explore their interests, develop their talents and build their confidence both inside and outside the school.”
