OPERA South’s popular New Year concert and dinner was held at The Georgian Hotel, Haslemere when 112 guests enjoyed champagne and canapes before settling down to a concert, on Saturday.

Arias, excerpts from operas and musical shows were presented by three young professional singers, soprano Margo Arsane, mezzo-soprano Samantha Price, and bass-baritone Bozidar Smiljanic, accompanied on the piano by Mark Austin, Opera South’s Music Director.

Opera South spokesman Carolann Martys said: “The exceptionally high standard of the singers delighted the audience.

“A gourmet dinner and wine followed, and the evening rounded off with a raffle – each table guaranteed a prize, and a silent auction of two Royal Opera House tickets and a voucher for dinner, bed and breakfast at The Georgian.

“It was a wonderful start to Opera South’s 32nd year.”
