A WOMAN has died and another motorist is fighting for her life after a car crashed into a tree.

Police were called to the A30 at Water End, Basingstoke, after a dark blue BMW heading toward Hook left the road around 3.30pm last Friday.

A 30-year-old front seat passenger was taken to hospital after the crash but died from her injuries. The 36-year-old driver suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and is in a critical condition at Southampton General Hospital.

An investigation has been launched and a Hampshire Police spokesman said: “Officers from the serious collision investigation unit would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the collision or who saw the car prior to the incident."
