CHARITABLE group the Farnham Hedgehogs has sponsored a new boat for Frensham Pond Sailability.
With excellent timing, the ceremony at Frensham Great Pond took place during National Hedgehog Awareness Week.
A group of Hedgehogs went along to Frensham Pond, with their chairman Salvatore Mezzullo, past chairman Bob Hockey, Ian Donald, Chris Woodhouse and Sailability helper and Hedgehog John Roberts.
They were welcomed by Sailability chairman Ivor Barrett, who thanked them for their generous contribution in funding a new boat, aptly named Hedgehog, and emphasised how much it would benefit the many people with disabilities or long term illnesses who go to Sailability sessions every week.
Mr Mezzullo explained how Hedgehogs worked and how pleased they were to be able to support such a worthy organisation.
Once the new boat was successfully launched, two of the Hedgehogs went for a sail on her for the maiden voyage.
