Foodies will get more bangers for their buck when one of the tastiest events in the Farnham calendar comes to Gostrey Meadow.

Interest is already hotting up in Farnham Fest as the September 7 event will incorporate the Cider and Sausage Festival.

The annual event organised by the Farnham Lions will include the Wright’s Lion Brewery main bar boasting a wide selection of real ales, beers, wines, spirits and prosecco.

There will be a cider bar offering Misty Moon Cider and Beetle Juice cocktails in addition to a great range and many street food options.

But there’s lots more for visitors to sink their teeth into as a pork idol will be crowned in the fourth Sausage of the Festival.

Four fantastic local butchers will compete for the coveted Lion President Sausage of the Festival award with their ‘Best British Banger’ submissions.

The current holders are Kellwood & Co of Squire’s Garden Centre but they face hot competition from Morgan’s on the Ridgeway, Hands of Rowledge and Farnham Family Butchers.

The public will have the final say but Farnham Lions president, Simon Moran Smith, has thanked the quartet for making the cut.

He said: “The support and generosity of these four great butchers, for which we are very grateful, enables every penny raised by the competition to be used to support local good causes.”

Fans of street food will find plenty to whet the appetite with Taste the Difference, Llada Thai, Crumpy’s Smoke Shack and Mama Lourdes Pizzas all cooking up a storm.

The Lions BBQ will also cook up sausages provided by the four aforementioned butchers while visitors will also find a pancake shack, vegetarian and vegan options and stalls offering coffee and ice cream.

A full programme of music is also planned at the 2pm to 9pm event with Sears bagging the evening slot. The covers band is led by the brilliant Emma – known to Beerex lovers as the lead singer of DisCover – while The Uproar Band should also prompt dancing in the meadow with their high-energy pop and rock covers.

The Boogie Monsters will bring the stage alive for children of all ages at 3pm with an area for them to sing along and dance.

Indeed, the event offers something for families and people of all ages with performances by Jakes Circus and circus tricks and workshops in the Star Tent.

A Teddy Bears Picnic Tent is also new this year while afternoon teas will be available in the picnic tent while face painting, braiding, costume jewellery and a bug store featuring children’s gifts should also entice.

The children’s activities will finish around 5pm but unlike previous years children are welcome to stay as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are priced £15 with no entry charge for under 18s while all profits raised will go towards local good causes.
