MORE than 1,000 parents, children and friends filled the grounds and playing field at Four Marks Primary School for the annual bonfire and fireworks celebrations.
Four Marks Parents’ Association, headed by Sam Nowell and Louise Chinchen, organised what was a fun occasion with fireworks zinging across the sky over the school while people gathered round the bonfire or walked round stalls selling Christmas gifts and craft work while the younger visitors enjoyed face painting.
Pupils got the chance to show off their skills during the Guy Fawkes competition, producing some imaginative entries. The winners were Eliza and Jasper Hooper and the runner-up was Charlie West.
There were some delicious entries for the cup cake competition and the winner of Key Stage 1 was Teddy Dixie, with Charlie West runner-up, and the Key Stage 2 winner was Thomas Byrne, with runner-up Eliza Hooper.
Chairman Sarah Cotton said: “The PTA changed hands at the September annual meeting and we wanted to do things a little differently this year. To that end we had live music from the school choir and local band JAHR, plus a raffle.”
Fireworks night is always a highlight of the school year and raises money for the PTA to buy school equipment. This year, £6,000 was raised.
