Pupils from Farnham Heath End, Rodborough, Woolmer Hill and Weydon schools got together on June 27 to decide the winner of the third annual Weydon Multi Academy Trust Book Award.
It allows secondary school children to say who they think is the best British author writing fiction for their age group.
Trust executive director Mark Sharman opened the event by reminding the pupils how important their opinions were, and after lively and engaging discussions they voted for their favourite book.
Last year’s winner Danielle Jawando gave a presentation and answered questions before announcing the 2023-24 winner as Josh Silver for HappyHead.
Weydon library manager Angela Daniels said: “The event is always an incredible occasion and it is wonderful to hear the students sharing their different views and opinions. HappyHead is such a popular winner and we hope to welcome Josh next year to meet the students and accept his award.”
