AS residents enjoyed afternoon tea with neighbours they had a shock as moments later a blue Volkswagen Polo crashed onto their driveway in Brambleton Avenue, Farnham.
The incident, which took place yesterday (Thursday) afternoon in-between two properties, number 19 and number 21, is being dealt with through the insurance companies of those involved.
The Volkswagen Polo, that was parked on the roadside further up the road just off Shortheath Road, plunged into the driveway of number 19, over the small concrete wall and into the back of a stationary car situated in the drive of number 21.
The Polo has been declared written off, however, Alan and Pat Humphries of number 21, are yet to find out the damage to their vehicle – currently blocked in due to the crash.
They said: “On this road we have had quite a few of these accidents, generally a handbrake problem, either they haven’t put it on properly, or even put it on at all.
“The worrying thing was that there were school children walking home.
“We didn’t want the car to be dragged out so they have to get a crane to lift it out.
“If they dragged it out, they would have damaged our neighbour’s wall even more. There has been a number of other accidents here, including a gritting lorry which crashed, and when a vehicle rolled all the way down from the top of the road. A lady who is quite deaf was walking down the road and the car knocked her down.
“She was quite badly hurt. Fortunately apart from her, she’s the only one who has been injured.”
This wan’t the first time the Humphries home has been hit. Previously a car had crashed into their front room, breaking through the wall and the window with the damage around three months to repair.
