A CAMPAIGN by The Herald’s sister paper the Surrey and Hants News calling for shoeboxes of Christmas goodies to bring cheer to less fortunate members of the community has solicited almost 700 donations.
Schools, businesses and countless other organisations and individuals across the Farnham area were busy in the lead-up to Christmas filling boxes, to be distributed to some of the area’s most isolated older people as well as youngsters and families threatened by homelessness.
Among those to have contributed to the project were three age groups of students at Weydon School who, between them, delivered 54 shoe boxes filled with Christmas gifts to the Farnham Herald office in West Street.
The boxes contained lots of lovely gifts and toiletries for boys and girls from ages five to 15 years old which were donated to a charity called Step by Step, supporting homeless people and families across Surrey and Hampshire.
