MAJOR Neil Woollacott, of the Alton branch of the Salvation Army, visited the town branch of Sainsbury’s to receive a donation of festive items from the store, as part of its annual Christmas Appeal.
The Salvation Army is collecting small gifts for youngsters up to the age of 18 and would particularly welcome items for older children. Christmas biscuits and sweets are also on the wishlist.
Major Woollacott said: “I would like to thank everyone who donated so generously during the toy sale at the store. As usual, we were overwhelmed with the generosity of local people and the gifts will help make Christmas a little more special for families in need.”
Sainsbury’s is also running a collection on behalf of the Lions Club of Alton, inviting Christmas food items, toiletries, puzzle books, socks, gloves and hats, sweets and biscuits, and any other goodies that would cheer up an older person facing the festive season alone this year or families in need.
Items can be left in the collection box at Alton Sainsbury’s, on Draymans Way, until the end of today.
