A multi-million pound project to enhance the water network between Hale and Aldershot has been completed.

South East Water has invested more than £4 million to install around 2.5 miles of new water mains.

The work aimed to increase the capacity of the drinking water supplier’s network as the local population grows.

This included laying new pipes in several roads in the area, including Sandy Hill Road, Bourley Road and Farnborough Road, with more than 1,600 metres (5249 feet) of new water mains also installed in private land as part of the project.

South East Water project manager Matt Cooper said: “This was a key project to ensure we can supply thousands of additional properties in the area without affecting the supply to our existing customers.

“We’ve worked hard to complete this within 12 months over different phases, working with landowners, stakeholders and regulators to ensure the right environmental mitigation was in place.

“We thank the local community for their patience while we have carried out this important work.”

This project was part of South East Water’s £489 million network improvements between 2020 and 2025.
