THE high-profile push to get a multi-storey car park built at Haslemere railway station has failed to deliver the quick fix supporters were hoping for.
Haslemere MP Jeremy Hunt met with the Transport Secretary last month in the hope of securing vital funding from the department to drive the project forward without further delay.
But town councillors were informed last Thursday that the project was on hold again because the Department for Transport was still not backing the plan.
Town "parking tsar" Stephen Mulliner told members it would have to be shelved until at least 2017, when South West Trains franchise comes up for renewal, which could prompt a change of heart in Whitehall.
