Farnham Community Farm is hosting the Sustainability Festival in Gostrey Meadow on May 19.
The growers have been busy trying to plug the gap between the end of the winter vegetables and the start of the new season crops.
In the past this meant surviving on old left-over kales, cabbages, brassicas, swedes and parsnips until the spring crops thrived in the warmer months.
A spokesperson said: “At Farnham Community Farm we are doing pretty well – at least that’s what we’d like to think.
“The radishes have come up big, round and crunchy; there are plenty of oriental green leaves, hardy type arctic king lettuce and sprouting broccoli to keep us going.
“Of course, we too are looking forward to the next few months and the abundance of produce that our field will provide.”
There was a social Saturday extravaganza at the farm to celebrate the Easter weekend.
The team organised several activities for younger visitors, including an Easter egg hunt, potato printing and cookie decorating.
These kept them all busy and the children were able to take the cookies and the prints home with them.
While the children were occupied, the adults were able to help out with planting willow to create edging around some sections of the farm.
Everyone was treated to a delicious home-cooked lunch and had the chance to identify some mystery cakes.
The spokesperson added: “One of the growers had made small ‘taster’ cakes and visitors were invited to sample one of each and guess with which vegetable from the farm the cake had been made.
“Veg are not just for dinner, they are pretty versatile and make for some scrumptious sweet snacks too.
“Luckily the weather was on our side and everyone had a fabulous time.”
