BRAMSHOTT and Liphook Parish Council has co-opted Jessica Taplin onto the panel, after the resignation of Charles Berry in November.

Mrs Taplin, currently chief executive of v*Inspired, the UK’s leading youth social action and volunteering charity. She moved to Liphook 18 months ago with her young family and has become an active member of St Mary’s Church congregation.

She said: “Since I have moved here from London, I have been keen to get involved in the community.

“Within my current role with the charity v*Inspired, almost 400,000 young people come to us every year, to find out more about volunteering, searching for opportunities and to find out how and why they should get involved.

“We are currently planning a pilot with Sussex Police around engaging young people to use their skills and digital know-how to help reduce cybercrime and fraud in older generations.”

With a background in business development, Mrs Taplin, a BA?degree in classical civilisation, has worked in the past for magazine publishers IPC and The Times newspaper, as well as at The Big Lottery Fund, the Patchwork Foundation.

She also held the post of chief executive at Get Connected, the national youth helpline.

Mrs Taplin has also recently volunteered to advise Jools Butler on the Whitehill and Bordon Community Trust, around their community and youth engagement strategy.
