Petersfield’s town crier has been feeling like royalty after passing on a special anniversary message to shoppers.
Faye Thompson gave a “Royal Proclamation” on Bank Holiday Monday to celebrate the first anniversary of the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
She was accompanied by ‘Mr Petersfield’ David Weeks and her husband, Martin, in making the announcement in Rams Walk.
Faye joined hundreds of town criers from around the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man to give the midday proclamation, specially written for the occasion and agreed with Buckingham Palace.
She said: “Although the weather was the same as it was a year ago when we were doing it, I just feel really honoured to be doing this.”
The event was also a first for Mr Thompson as he was recently promoted from being Faye’s “consort” to deputy town crier.
Mr Weeks, who has met most of the Royal Family over the years, brought out his famous shiny suit for the “wonderful” occasion.
