Police are investigating yet another spate of vehicle crime at a notorious car park in the Meon Valley.

At least half a dozen vehicles were damaged or broken into at the Old Winchester Hill car park between 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, September 21.

A child’s buggy and gym clothes were among the items stolen with the culprits repeatedly breaking either a side or rear window to gain entry.

Some five incidents were reported at the car park near West Meon with some users calling for more unmarked patrols at the site, which has long been a blackspot for vehicle crime.

Police are investigating whether the spate at Old Winchester Hill may be linked to a host of similar thefts around the Meon Valley over a 24-hour period.

A purse containing bank cards and cash was stolen from a parked vehicle on Beacon Hill Road in nearby Exton on the same day while a further four thefts were reported around Avington Park near Alresford.

A thief smashed a car window before stealing a bag containing a passport, phone and bank cards after smashing at the latter.

The 12 incidents also included numberplate thefts with sets being stolen from a parked vehicle in Abbottstone Wood and Shedfield between 9.30pm and 5pm on Friday, September 20.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the affected areas to get in touch.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Hampshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
