The Farnham and Bordon MP took a trip down to a Frensham farm to hear the concerns of rural residents.

Greg Stafford took visited the Countryside Regeneration Trust’s (CRT) Pierrepont Farm and the businesses who have taken residency in the old dairy.

Mr Stafford looked around the facility and met with the artisans who make everything from cheese to Windsor chairs. He began by catching up with the team at the micro-brewery who spoke about the industry and where they think the MP could help.

Mr Stafford was a keen listener whilst he enjoyed the tea and biscuits provided, but also offered his support to the businesses. He said he would try his best to see if he could get some of the Craft Brews UK beer at the Houses of Parliament bar.

Artisans were keen for Mr Stafford to try their products, some of which he had tried before. Including salted caramel fudge from Mummy’s Made Fudge which was also the favourite of the former Tory Prime Minister David Cameron.

Kerriann McLackland, CRT head of estates, said: “It was a great opportunity to showcase how the CRT and our tenants work collaboratively to support local small businesses alongside nature-friendly farming.

“The MP was really interested in all rural issues and we had an opportunity to raise some of the challenges facing the rural economy, such as the limitations of broadband and mobile phone coverage, delays in the planning system and the proposed cuts to agri-environment funding.”

The Old Dairy at Pierrepont is hosting a launch event for Farnham Craft Month, on Saturday, October 5, from midday to 5pm.

To end the day, Mr Stafford was shown around the barns and automated milking station of the farm. Cows would position themselves in the machine and then laser-guided milkers locate the teat and extract the milk.
