Bikers and skateboarders in Upper Hale could have lift off with their long campaign to get a new pump track.
It’s been a long and winding road as the bid to replace the old BMX track which closed in the early 2000s began nearly three years ago.
But the wheels are firmly turning on an update with an online consultation at https://orlo.uk/xmIrW being launched to get feedback on its possible replacement.
The suggested pump track would include a series of asphalted mounds and banked turns for bikers, scooter riders and skateboarders of all skill levels and ages.
It would be on land immediately adjacent to Caesar's Camp on the north-western corner of Sandy Hill Road.
Catherine Powell, Surrey County Councillor for north Farnham, is confident the consultation will show how much the new track is wanted and needed.
She said: “I know from discussions with many residents this is something that is much needed and will be well used and loved.
“I urge everyone to respond to the consultation and support this, from those that remember the Sandy Hill BMX track back in the 70s and 80s, to those that have toddlers today, who will love this when they are a bit older.
“And especially the big kids out there who are secretly desperate to get back on their bikes.
“This has taken a lot of time and effort and I am particularly grateful for the support of Cllr Kika Mirylees and Andy Fernandez at Waverley for their determination.”
