Petersfield Town kept their play-off push on track with a 2-1 win at Bexhill United in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division.

The Rams came from behind to beat Bexhill and solidify their play-off charge.

A disastrous start saw the visitors fall behind after four minutes when a defensive error was punished by Evan Archibald.

Goals from Brandon Miller and Harrison Cable turned the game around, but a clearance off the line by Kieran Alcock in the last minute secured the points.

Petersfield’s Harrison Hide was caught in a dangerous position after four minutes and was punished.

The ball was played across to Archibald, who finished emphatically into the top corner.

Cable almost equalised two minutes later when Kian Towse beat his man and found Cable, who took a touch and fired across goal, but the ball rebounded off the post.

Miller got the Rams back on level terms with a well-taken header after 14 minutes.

A teasing delivery from Liam Kimber was met by Miller, who beat Bexhill keeper Alex Hobden to the ball and flicked it in off the underside of the bar.

The Rams completed the turnaround after 43 minutes with Cable applying the finishing touch.

A good team move to work the ball into the box turned scrappy, but Cable came off the right to calmly slot underneath Hobden.

Bexhill’s Harvey Mapstone headed wide at the near post early in the sending half to keep Petersfield honest.

Asad Ssemwogerere could have wrapped the points up for the Rams late on.

Played through on goal, a poor touch put Ssemwogerere under pressure but he still forced Hobden into a good stop.

Alcock was the hero in the last minute as Hobden came up for a corner and had an excellent header cleared off the line by Alcock’s outstretched boot.
