Aldershot Town manager Tommy Widdrington was left to rue fine margins after his side lost 2-1 at home to Boston United.

The Shots led through Tyler Frost’s goal, but goals from James Gale and Jai Rowe gave the Pilgrims the three points.

“We didn't manage to get that second goal before Boston managed to get an equaliser, and that sometimes is the turning point,” said Widdrington.

“Fair play to Boston, they stuck at it and they got their goal.

“They've then hit us on the counter attack right at the death when we were probably a little lacking in our discipline at the back.

“It's disappointing to lose the game but we push it to one side and move on to the next one like we normally do.”

Widdrington made several changes to the side which beat Woking 2-1 in the FA Trophy semi-final, and the Shots boss was happy with what he saw from his players.

“I think there were a lot of positives to be had,” said Widdrington.

“It was good to get minutes into Ollie Bray from the start, and Keane Anderson, Kai Corbett and James Henry all got more minutes.

“They're all positives to take from the game, it's just when the game is taken away from you right at the end of the game it feels worse.

“It's not a nice feeling so we've got to try to get that out of our system as quickly as we can.

“We're not going to worry about losing a football match. You can lose – it's how you lose.

“The lads will be disappointed. I know the staff are disappointed.

“We win together and we lose together, it's as simple as that.

“The schedule doesn't get much easier – it's been a tough gig for the players and the staff.”
