Haslemere’s men’s first team won 5-3 at home to Oxford Brookes University (OBU) in South Central Men’s Premier Division One.

Haslemere started strongly and created a number of chances.

The deadlock was broken when captain Arthur Beaney pounced on a rebound to score.

OBU then equalised from a breakaway.

Haslemere then took control, with Jake Coombes following in a penalty corner to finish high into the net.

Andy Powell’s drag flick made it 3-1 shortly before half-time.

Haslemere started the second half on top and went 4-1 up when Max finished an excellent move with a deft deflection.

OBU fought their way back in to the game with two short-corner goals, but Marco van Raalte scored Haslemere’s fifth to seal the win.

Haslemere then drew 4-4 draw at home to the University of Oxford.

Oxford’s high press disrupted Haslemere’s passing game early on.

The game opened up when Charlie's long pass found Max in the middle, and his turn and long pass found Ben Smith open in the D.

Smith produced a clever first touch and rounded the Oxford keeper to score the opening goal.

The visitors equalised from a short corner and the two sides went into half time on level terms.

Oxford started the second half strongly and went 4-1 up courtesy of an open play goal, a second goal from a short corner and a penalty stroke.

Haslemere then showed their grit to fight back from the three-goal deficit.

The hosts won a penalty stroke, which was calmly dispatched by top scorer Andy Powell to make it 4-2.

Max Greenhalgh then scored two goals to get Haslemere back on level terms.

Both teams created chances as they pushed for a winner, but both sides lacked the energy to finish the other team off and the points were shared.
