Haslemere’s women’s first team picked up an impressive 4-2 win at home to second-placed Southampton in South Central Women’s Premier Division Two on Saturday.

The home side took the lead when Cindi Pretorious deflected an excellent ball from Alice Toynton through the Southampton keeper’s legs.

Haslemere continued to impress throughout the first half against their high-flying visitors, but they were unable to find a second goal and had to settle for a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The home side doubled their advantage in the second half when Toynton calmly slotted the ball past the Southampton keeper after some excellent build-up play.

Cleo Buirski then made it 3-0 to the home side, before Southampton pulled two goals back.

Haslemere then had to defender a number of Southampton short corners, and Haslemere keeper Jo Burder made an excellent save to keep the home side’s lead intact.

The home side sealed their win late on when Pretorious deftly passed the ball to Buirski, who set up Toynton to apply the finish and make it 4-2 to Haslemere.

The three points leave Haslemere in fifth place in the South Central Women’s Premier Division Two table.

Haslemere’s women’s first team will travel to South Berkshire on Saturday (3pm start).

Haslemere’s men’s first team produced an excellent performance to win 5-2 at home to Basingstoke in their first home game of 2025 in South Central Men’s Premier Division One.

The home side dominated possession throughout the game with Bio netting two goals, while Marco, Elliot and Richie each contributed one goal to secure the 5-2 victory.

Youngster Max Amesbury had an excellent debut.

Haslemere are currently fourth in South Central Men’s Premier Division One, reflecting their consistency and hard work so far this season.

Next up for Haslemere’s men’s first team is a trip to South Berkshire.
